South Haven

South HavenSouth Haven, is an eight bed (4 large semi-private rooms) secure unit for residents that have a dementia diagnosis and may have elopement issues. Our goal is to provide an environment that minimizes distractions and provides a calm atmosphere. In addition, South Haven residents require a safe and secure setting. In order to accomplish that goal, in 2005 we located South Haven in the 1993 addition of the Elders’ Home. Entrance/Exit to South Haven, is controlled by proximity card or keypad. South Haven, has an automatic fire suppression system, (sprinklers), in the event of a fire. (It should be noted the entire building is sprinkled).

South Haven is adjacent to the rehabiliation room, which allows for easy access to our Physical, Occupational and Speech therapists. Therapy is contracted through RehabCare.

South HavenMeals are brought directly to South Haven and Activities staff, have structured activities, scheduled specifically for South Haven residents. When live entertainment is scheduled for the Elders’ Home, South Haven residents, join the other residents of the home in the main dining room. South Haven residents also participate in numerous supervised outings, outside of the home. Outings include: Visits to State Parks, New York Mills annual Roughrider rodeo, Dalton Thresherman’s Reunion, country rides, shopping outings and visits to local restaurants.
