Elders' Home and Heritage Manor

The Elders' Home has operated in the community of New York Mills for nearly 60 years.

Throughout this time our number one priority has always been the care of our residents, and we have a long history of succeeding in this endeavor. Over the past decade changes to the senior care and housing industry have affected nursing homes nation-wide. Elders' Home has been hit especially hard by these changes as we are a small, faith based facility. We don't have corporate backers, partners, or other facilities to help us when times get tight. Due to low occupancy, we have been unable to meet our financial obligations. We have employed various techniques and strategies in an attempt to turn things around and have not been successful.

With the care of our residents in mind we have made the difficult decision to close down the Elders' Home. We would like to thank our wonderful community for all the support we have received over the years, for faithfully entrusting your family members into our care. We would also like to thank the following churches for their prayers, service, and financial support: New York Mills Apostolic Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, St Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, First Congregational Church of Christ, and St John's Catholic Church. Our heartfelt thanks also goes out to all our employees, past and present, and the surrounding medical community. Many people have made the Elders' Home their life's work and we are sincerely grateful for all the years of dedicated service to our residents. This process will take time. We are working with our state and local government agencies to make sure everything is done in a thorough and orderly manner. We will give updates as more information comes available.

Thank you,
Board of Directors
